House Party

various (see details on each image)

A number of works in progress shown as part of House Party at Energy House 2.0 February 2025 as part of a residency with University of Salford Art Collection.

Installed inside one of the model homes inside Energy House 2.0 testing facility, the works are hybrid digits or limbs mixed with domestic items. Envisioned as a cast of characters (inhabitants) for the theatrical show-home set, there is a semblance of a heteronormative family, Dad in the front window, mum in the bed and the kitchen, their small daughter lurking on the landing. The finger became a key image in this setting, deliberately ambiguous (possibly beckoning, helping, or offending). Fingers were key to operating the numerous types of technology in this specific setting, but also of how we navigate our homes more generally, through fingertips; flipping switches, pushing buttons, intimate touches, making things, and of course, scrolling on screens.
