Five Structures for Play

Painted wooden climbing structures, fabric costumes and foam flooring

Commissioned as part of Abacus at the Bluecoat, an exhibtion made for children, Five Structures for Play took architectural forms from spaces with rigid rules and traditions and recreated them as miniature, blank playscapes complete with costumes and all rules removed. The Chapel, Courtroom, Eton Court, Kiosk and Roman Mithraeum replicas were handed over to children to create their own scenarios for play. Images by the artist except 2nd - Rob Battersby and 4th and 7th - Harry Meadley. Costumes by Ruth Eaton. With thanks to the Bluecoat Technical team.
